Using an audio clip from The Bodega Boys Podcast Episode 191, I created a short animation about Judas and the interaction that sparked the hater in him.
Set in biblical times, we follow Judas on his way to The Last Supper and witness the interactions that led to him ultimately turning against Jesus.
IDEA
With this project, the goal is to re-tell the well-know story of Jesus at the Last Supper with his boys, the apostles. Using an excerpt from The Bodega Boys Podcast where they re-created a version of this story that I decided to animate. I experimented with a futuristic 1920’s aesthetic experiments with animating various shades of African skin tones in grayscale.

RESEARCH FOR INSPIRATION
SCRIPT EDITING
After listening to the audio for this skit multiple times, I re-arranged the order and removed some parts in order to create a story that had a clear beginning, middle and ending.
STORYBOARDING
I first made hand-drawn sketches on a piece of paper and moved them into Adobe Photoshop to complete.
ANIMATIC
I brought the storyboards into Premiere Pro and combined with audio to create comedic timing. The voice overs are spoken very fast and I decided to add extra pauses in certain area to highlight the various lines.

CHARACTER DESIGN
I used Adobe Illustrator to create simple characters that could be rigged inside Adobe After Effects.
MOTION DESIGN | ANIMATION
I brought all the artwork into Adobe After Effects to rig and animate them. Most animation was done by creating Shape Paths. The characters all had Rubberhouse limbs. The 1920's old visual effects were also created and added.

COMPOSITING and SOUND DESIGN
All animation was brought into Adobe Premiere Pro where I sourced and added sound effects, created laugh tracks. For the censored version, I added expletive bleeps and created subtitles for each scene.

RENDERED
Finally this short film was complete and I created various short looping GIFs for social media.
